Privacy Policy
UpStats is a gamified life tracker: skills, habits, meals, workouts, steps, journal entries and the friends you share progress with in Circles. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect
Account information. Email address, a hashed password (we never store or see your plain-text password), and a display name.
What you choose to log. Habits, to-dos, journal entries, meals, workouts, gym sets, books, milestones, and any notes you attach to them. This is yours — we store it so it syncs across your devices and shows back up when you open the app.
Health and fitness data. Steps (read from your phone's motion sensor, only with your permission, or entered by hand), height, weight, and nutrition goals, if you choose to enter them. This category exists because UpStats is listed in the Health & Fitness category on the app stores.
Circles. If you join or create a Circle, your display name and your logged progress are visible to the other members of that Circle. Nothing outside a Circle is shared with anyone in it.
Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a device token (from Expo) so we can send you habit/to-do reminders and Circle nudges. No token, no push notifications.
Diagnostics. If crash and error reporting is enabled in your build, we may receive a crash report containing your device model, OS version, app version and an anonymized stack trace — never your logged content.
We do not run advertising SDKs, and we do not currently use third-party analytics. If that changes, this page will say so before it ships.
How we use it
To run the app: sync your data across your devices, show you your own history, and run the features above. To reach you: only the reminders you've turned on inside the app. The only email we send is a password reset code, when you ask for one. We do not send marketing email. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Where it lives
Your data is stored on our backend server (hosted on Render) and sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before they're ever written to disk.
Your choices
- Export everything. Settings → Export my data gives you a copy of what we hold about you.
- Turn off reminders. Settings → Reminders.
- Delete your account. Settings → Delete account removes your account and everything tied to it immediately and permanently. If you no longer have the app installed, see our account deletion page.
Children
UpStats is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@upstats.life and we will remove it.
